I am a junior studying computer science at the University of Washington, and the code monkey behind Little Green Boxes.

I work primarily on issues in spatial ecology, community assembly, and population viability – all under a conservation biological umbrella. I enjoy fieldwork, and I enjoy the challenge of tackling the data that results. Much of my field work involves advanced techniques such as passive acoustics, GPS, and radio acoustic positioning and telemetry (RAPT). Recently I have been focused on Bayesian statistics, hierarchical models, and state-space methods (e.g. Kalman filters, particle filters, etc).

I an an applied population biologist. I lately I work mainly on methods and applications of population viability analysis. My papers and research can be found on my website: faculty.washington.edu/eeholmes

I am currently an NRC Post-doc housed at the Montlake lab of NOAA (NWFSC) in Seattle. I also teach at the UW in Winter quarters (intro to modeling / visual basic)


My interests:

I primarily work on population dynamics of all species (am particularly interested in small populations - catastrophes, Allee dynamics, PVA, etc). I frequently use Bayesian statistics, and implement a variety of languages to do so (C,Fortran,VisualBasic,R,Matlab,Java,WinBugs).
